About Her

Eva Bacud is a Researcher and Doctoral Candidate in the Chair of Economics and Agricultural Policy at the University of Bonn. Currently, her research focuses on the connection between aspirations, livelihoods, poverty, and inequality in selected countries in sub-Saharan Africa. She adopts mixed methods (quantitative and qualitative) and gender and intersectional analysis in her research.

Eva received her Master’s in Agricultural, Food, and Environmental Policy Analysis (AFEPA) from the University of Bonn, Germany, and Universita Cattolica Del Sacro Cuore, Italy, where she was awarded the Erasmus Mundus scholarship. Her research on gendered varietal trait preferences in Bangladesh was awarded the Hans Ruthenberg Graduate Award. Before doing her Master’s, she was an Assistant Scientist at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) for two years and a Researcher at the Partnership for Economic Policy – Community Based Monitoring System (PEP-CBMS) for a year in the Philippines.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics from the University of the Philippines (UP) Los Baños and was an exchange student at the National University of Singapore (NUS), where she was awarded the Temasek Foundation Leadership Enrichment and Regional Networking scholarship.

Eva has designed and conducted surveys and field discussions in the Philippines, Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, and Kenya.
