Aquaponics plays an important role in the bioeconomy for more sustainable and regional food production. In addition to challenges at a technological level, the marketing of aquaponics products has so far been a major obstacle to long-term success. Several farms had to give up their operations.
In the context of our recent aquaponics research project, we organized a workshop for aquaponic experts and interested people in order to discuss challenges and success factors of aquaponic businesses.
The workshop took place on 7 February 2024 at the Universitätsclub Bonn. People could also participate via Zoom.
We had an interesting and fruitful exchange with a broad range of experts - from farm owners and plant engineers to scientific experts and experts from the Ministry for Agriculture and Consumer Affairs of the German State of North Rhine-Westphalia (MLV).
