As part of the P3roLucas project, a group of project team members traveled to Lake
Constance to engage with farmers regarding the cultivation of sweet lupin as a primary crop.
During this trip, the group also made a visit to Biolandhof Kelly in Herdwangen-Schönach,
which is particularly innovative in marketing lupin products for human consumption.
Linda Kelly, who runs the farm together with her husband and parents, has been growing
narrow-leaved lupin for the past 10 years. During this time, she has continuously developed
new products in her on-farm workshop, which she offers in her farm store, online shop, or
through distributors. The product range now includes gluten-free lupin-buckwheat pasta, lupin
coffee liqueur, and lupin facial oil and many more.
We were delighted to have the opportunity to speak with Mrs. Kelly about her extensive
experience in lupin cultivation and marketing to explore potential future prospects for sweet
lupin in North Rhine-Westphalia.
