LAND-POLICY
Funded by an ERC Starting Grant, this 5-year project aims to find out under which conditions public policies most effectively and efficiently improve land conditions.
The project has four main components:
First, we produce new datasets on land degradation, its effects, and the public policies that have been implemented as a response.
Second, we use econometric techniques to identify the effect of different kinds of policies and their combinations.
Third, we use monetary valuation techniques to determine the costs and benefits of different policies.
Fourth, we use both standard econometric techniques and innovative machine learning approaches to identify the main sources of heterogenous policy performances.
